Rerouting
When you find yourself in a place
You never thought you’d be.
When the beliefs that you once held dear
No longer seem to fit reality.
When the people you leaned on
Have let you fall.
Or the things you counted on
Are nowhere to be found.
When you discover the thing you thought you’d like
You truly don’t like at all.
When the walls close in
Or the ceiling starts to fall.
It is okay to open the door
And walk out.
It is okay
To stay when you thought you would not.
To remodel.
To rebuild.
It is okay to think a new thought.
Or try a new thing.
This is the soil from which wisdom is harvested.
This is not failure.
This is rerouting.
This is growing.
This is learning.
This is what it means to be free.
So go ahead, look back.
Grieve what you’d hoped for.
Release how you once believed.
Accept what is.
Shed the tears.
Heal the fears.
Celebrate the victory of survival.
Then throw on your pack
And press on.
Your journey is not finished.
Your story has not ended.
Your adventure awaits.
Rise up.
Reroute.
And press on.
